Girl Commits Suicide by Jumping in Front of Delhi Metro Train


NEW DELHI – A woman committed suicide by jumping in front of an approaching Metro train at the Yamuna Bank station on Sunday evening.

Police said the woman jumped in front of the train going towards Vaishali at around 558PM. She was later identified as Anjali, who was in her mid 30’s. Initial investigation revealed that the woman hailed from Allahabad.

A Central Industrial Security Force officer said CCTV footage showed the woman wandering aimlessly at the Metro station for more than 10 minutes before jumping in front of an arriving Metro train at platform number three. The incident took place at the Yamuna Bank metro station at around 6:10 PM. As per reports, the girl’s wedding had been fixed in Delhi. Her family had come from Allahabad to meet the groom’s family, after the latter denied to go ahead with the wedding due to some issue regarding dowry.

The girl allegedly committed suicide due to the rejection.
